A Place for Us” is a self-portrait of my young self and present self as a representation of all the people I have been throughout the timeline of my life. A visual dialogue about being the person your childhood-self dreamed of, self-reliance, and the fluidity of time. In this work I contemplate existence and imagine an escape from the realities of adulthood, self-sabotage, and anti-Blackness around the world. A place where “We” (both self and community) can thrive and exist without harm.
